Need to Delegate…that is a good sign!

One of my go-to voices every week is the Harvey Mackay newsletter.  I saw him speak at conference 20 years ago.  The MacKay 66 program is a fundamental part of how repetition, specificity, & process matters so much in The Referrals Group.

Recently he wrote an article about delegating.  Delegating is one of my weaknesses.  Everytime I do a SWOT analysis on myself….delegating is a weakness that always comes up.   Here are some key points he wrote that spoke to me.

Here are some of the excerpts:
——————————————————————————————————————————————
Is there something important on your plate that you know someone else needs to take over? That’s a good sign.  You can’t grow a business if everything has to keep coming back to you.

But deciding to delegate something and actually setting someone up to succeed with it are two very different things. Before you hand it off, think about what could happen next:

  • Will they know exactly what a good outcome looks like?
  • Do they have what they need to do the job well?
  • How will you know things are on track without taking the work right back?

These are the kinds of questions that are much easier to work through before something important gets dropped.

Group task:
1- What are your take-a-ways?
2- Who is really good at delegating & creating clear front end outcomes? Do you have a system to track it?
